Whoopi Goldberg says Paul Simon once warned her that “a lot of people aren’t going to get you”.

The 64-year-old actress recalled meeting the music star at a party years ago and Simon gave her some lasting career advice, encouraging Whoopi to be herself even if other people perceive her to be “strange”.

Remembering their encounter at the star-studded bash, Whoopi – who is one of only sixteen entertainers to have won an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award – shared: “We had one of the best conversations I’ve ever had … Paul Simon said listen, ‘It’s going to get very fast and a lot is going to happen.'”

The music icon warned Whoopi that her quirks won’t always be understood by some people within the entertainment industry.

However, he also encouraged her not to dilute her personality in search of acceptance.

She recalled him saying to her: “I just want to tell you a lot of people aren’t going to get you, you will be strange to them.”

Since 2007, Whoopi has been co-hosting the talk show ‘The View’, and she’s admitted to loving her time on the programme.

The actress – who starred in ‘The Color Purple’ and ‘Sister Act’ – relishes sharing the screen with so many opinionated, passionate co-presenters.

Speaking to Naomi Campbell’s ‘No Filter with Naomi’ YouTube channel about her co-presenters, Whoopi said: “You have five different personalities, five different ways of thinking, five different ways of delivering and everyone has their borders … you don’t want to make it personal … real friends don’t make it personal unless they’re looking for a [real] fight.”

“I’m not, at 72 years old, willing to give up my career.”

The spiritual singer might fear her career ending, but when it comes to the end of life, Nicks isn’t afraid of dying.

She insisted that “some people are really afraid of dying, but I’m not.”

The ‘Go Your Own Way’ singer went on to recall a visit she had from her late parent in her kitchen when she was suffering from

“really bad acid reflux”.

She continued: “I’ve always believed in spiritual forces. I absolutely know that my mom is around all the time.

And I felt something almost tap my shoulder and this voice go: ‘It’s that Gatorade you’re drinking.’

“I’d been sick and chugging down the Hawaiian Punch. Now, that’s not some romantic, gothic story of your mother coming back to you. It’s your real mother, walking into your kitchen and

Le’Veon Bell’s short stint with the New York Jets proved extremely lucrative, even if his production didn’t match his salary.

The Jets released Bell on Tuesday, less than two years into the four-year, $52.5 million contract he signed in March 2019. The $28 million he earned in 17 games with New York is nearly double the $16.2 million he earned as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers over five seasons.

Bell was a key cog in the Steelers’ offense from 2013-2017, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2014 and 2017 while tallying more than 1,200 yards rushing three times. After his second All-Pro season, Bell sat out the entire 2018 campaign due to a contract dispute with Pittsburgh.

The Steelers handed off to Bell a career-high 321 times in 2017, and the tailback was looking to sign an extension before becoming a free agent following the 2018 season. When Pittsburgh instead franchise-tagged him, Bell elected to remain on the sidelines rather than risk his health in a contract year.

From a financial standpoint, there’s no question the decision made sense. The Jets gave Bell a four-year, $52.5 million contract with $35 million guaranteed and a maximum value of $61 million overall, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

He didn’t come close to justifying that contract, though. Across the 2019 and 2020 seasons, Bell carried the ball 264 times for 863 yards and three touchdowns to go with 500 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Spotrac.com puts Bell’s career estimated earnings at nearly $44.1 million. That number could jump up again in the near future if Bell signs elsewhere as a free agent.

As summer protests continued, the popular reality TV star made news for not only protesting but going to jail while in the act. Alongside Real Housewives Of Atlanta star Porsha Williams and other demonstrators, Smith-Harris was arrested this summer for marching in Lousiville, Kentucky. As theGrio reported, Smith was horrified by the terrible conditions she and protesters endured while in custody.

“The bathroom is just completely disgusting, like feces on the toilet. Feces on the floor. You would think there was a puddle of water, but it was urine,” she said after being released.

During the Instagram Live conversation with Hill, the 40-year-old said the decision to not charge officers in Taylor’s violent death was “an egregious miscarriage of justice.” She also said Taylor’s mom stood with them during every protest.

It was disgraceful, to say the least, to be a Black woman and to realize that they felt like the wall was more important than her life,” Smith-Harris said. “It was the worst news that we could have heard. We put our bodies on the line. Every time we were out there protesting, every time we got locked up, her mom was there waiting for us. Her mom was on the front lines with us.”

Although Smith has made recent headlines connected to her fight for justice for Breonna Taylor, the entrepreneur detailed her beginnings with activism and protesting and finding purpose
