College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, Week 5: LSU bounces back, eight ranked teams fall

Eight ranked teams lost on Saturday as the crazy beginning to the 2020 college football season continued with a handful of upsets. But No. 20 LSU and No. 17 Oklahoma State were two teams that showed resiliency in blowout victories against league opponents after both dealt with disappointing starts to their seasons. The Tigers handled Vanderbilt 41-7 on Saturday, while the Cowboys blasted Kansas 47-7.

Oklahoma State looked underwhelming in victories against Tulsa and West Virginia to open the season. But after Saturday’s impressive offensive showing against the lowly Jayhawks, the Cowboys are the only undefeated team remaining in the Big 12 and have a clear path toward a league title. LSU’s path to an SEC title remains murky, but the Tigers actually bested last year’s national title team in one way against the Commodores as the 34-point margin of victory bested the 28-point margin of victory that last year’s team posted against Vanderbilt.

Both fanbases can take a sigh of relief, especially when they look around the country and see what happened to many of their ranked peers. CBS Sports covered all the upsets and action from another exciting day in college football, and you can view all the highlights below.
