Surgery at this time is important for the rest of Cowboys LT Tyron Smith’s career

Posted on

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones joined the K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM] recently to talk about Tyron Smith’s injury and more. Here are some of the highlights.

On Tyron Smith being done for the year…

Jones: “Let me just say this. Tyron has done any and everything he could possibly do with his condition to play. And as witnessed by the fact he had 88 snaps last week. So, he’s doing everything he can do. The facts are that he’s a 10-year veteran, and this surgery at this time, not after the season, but at this particular time is important for the rest of his career. And that’s paramount to the fact that he’s obviously playing because it’s nerve type sensitivity that is involved here, gets, creates — stinger type, if you remember the term of nerve in your neck and shoulder area and that’s the area we’re talking about. But the bottom line is we all agree that he should have the surgery, which will put him out for the rest of the year. I have said over the last two or three weeks that my biggest concern I have as a position group with all the things that we can critique and look to improve upon with our team, and we certainly have many of them that we can, of all the concerns is the offensive line. It’s always the challenge relative to continuity when you start shuffling it around or losing key players within the offensive line. Position flex, the ability to move a player and have the ability to move around. Some of them like [Zack] Martin or Larry Allen or people like that, they go anywhere you want to put them and do an All-Pro job. But you can’t have all

LeBron James Calls Game 4 Of NBA Finals One Of The Most Important Games Of His Career

Posted on

When LeBron James woke up from his pregame nap, he sent his teammates a text.

It was hours before they took the floor against the Miami Heat for Game 4 of the NBA Finals and he wanted them to know how much this game meant to him.

He called it a “must-win,” a term he sparingly uses.

“I just felt that vibe,” James said. “I felt that pressure. I felt like for me, personally, this was one of the biggest games of my career and I just wanted to relay that message to my teammates, what type of zone I was in, what type of moment it was, because I just know how great of a team that we’re playing against.”

The Lakers went on to beat the Heat, 102-96, to take a 3-1 series lead. They’re one win away from their first championship since 2010.

James said he felt compelled to send that message after the Lakers’ lackluster performance in Game 3 when Jimmy Butler danced around their stagnant defense en route to a 40-point, 13-assist and 11-rebound performance in their 115-104 loss.

He knew the Heat was feeling confident.

And he wanted the Lakers to be ready.

They responded with a hard-fought, defense-first game in which there were nine lead changes, nine ties and neither team ever built a double-digit advantage.

The Lakers pulled ahead down the stretch.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made a three-pointer followed by a layup on consecutive possessions — both off of assists from James — to turn a two-point Lakers advantage to seven points, 95-88, with 2 minutes left.

Anthony Davis put the nail in the coffin with 39.5 seconds remaining after making a three-pointer to give the Lakers a nine-point lead, 100-91.

James said he didn’t hesitate to pass the ball to Caldwell-Pope with

A survey released earlier this month found that 80% of millennial respondents believe it is important to continue teaching about the Holocaust.

While this aspect of the survey reflects a willingness and commitment to learn from the past on the part of millennials, the general public and media chose to focus on different aspects of the survey – like the fact that almost two-thirds of millennials and Gen Zers do not know that six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust, and almost half do not know the name of any concentration camp.

Social media erupted with comments calling young Americans’ lack of knowledge, “stunning,” “disappointing,” and “a shameful example of how ignorant and insensitive Americans have become.”

The survey, commissioned by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, compounded by recent incidents of Holocaust denial on Facebook and the trivialization of survivors on Tik Tok, paints a depressing picture. Will our younger generations fail to ensure the lessons of the Holocaust are remembered in the decades to come?

Satellite imagery has revealed that two of the fastest-changing glaciers in Antarctica are fracturing and weakening faster than ever—the first step towards the glaciers disintegrating and causing sea levels to rise dramatically.

Using observations from ESA, NASA and USGS satellites, the researchers explored the Pine Island and Thwaites Glaciers in the Amundsen Sea Embayment: two of the most dynamic glaciers on the Antarctic continent, and those responsible for a substantial 5% of global sea level rise.

Together, the two glaciers form an area of flowing ice the size of Norway, and hold enough water to raise global sea levels by over a meter. Both have distinctly changed in morphology in recent decades along with changing atmospheric and oceanic conditions, with the warming oceans causing ice shelves to melt, thin, and retreat.

Predicting how these vital glaciers will evolve in coming years is critical to understand the future of our seas and our warming planet—but such predictions have remained uncertain, with computer models unable to fully account for the glaciers’ processes and properties in their projections.

“To reveal what’s really going on at Pine Island and Thwaites, we dug into imaging data from a number of different satellites,” says Stef Lhermitte of Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and lead author of the new study.
